Background of the Figurine – Abdallah with Toy Tiger

This figurine depicts the mischievous Abdallah, the six-year-old prince appearing in both Cokes in Stock and Tintin and the Land of Black Gold.

In Cokes in Stock, Abdallah comes to stay at Captain Haddock’s castle Marlinspike Hall. One day, Tintin and Haddock hear a strange roaring sound that startles them. Tintin investigates and discovers that the tiger sound behind a door is actually Abdallah himself! He had been imitating a tiger, creating a humorous moment. The figurine shows Abdallah with his toy tiger on a stick, capturing this playful scene perfectly.

In Tintin and the Land of Black Gold, Abdallah reappears when Tintin visits Emir Ben Kalish Ezab and discovers the emir’s six-year-old son has been kidnapped. Tintin sets out to find the rebellious Abdallah, who is spoiled, mischievous, and loves pranks such as trick cigars, a spring-loaded spider in a matchbox, and itching powder. Ultimately, Tintin finds Abdallah, though the young prince does not always obey.
