Lawyers - Honoré Daumier Collection Figurine - Parastone - 25 cm

Between 1868 and 1870 in particular, Daumier drew and painted lawyers in their daily practice.

Honoré Daumier (1808–1879), the masterful political and social caricaturist of 19th-century Paris, also created expressive figurines. These small sculptural works, often in clay, captured the exaggerated features and gestures of politicians, lawyers, and everyday Parisians, serving as three-dimensional studies for his sharp caricatures. They reveal his keen eye for character and his talent for blending satire with lifelike observation.

Attributes: two lawyers, standing side by side on a round wooden base. They are dressed in traditional dark blue robes with white neck bands and square academic caps, holding large legal books under one arm. One man is gesturing with his right hand as if explaining something, while the other listens with a pleasant expression. Both have curly brown hair, sideburns, and exaggerated black boots, giving the figures a whimsical, caricatured look.
