Portrait of Wolfgang Lazius: a famous scientist at the Habsburg court.

Giuseppe Arcimboldo (ca. 1527 – 1593) The eccentric renaissance painter: an artist at the Habsburg court, famous for his artistic discovery of the composite head which are composed of various objects, such as vegetables, fruits, flowers, books and fish.

Attributes: three-dimensional bust composed of numerous books of varying sizes, colors, and orientations. A large open book rests on top to form a headpiece with yellow ribbons extending from the sides, while the facial features are shaped by stacked book spines and covers, including a prominent nose and a dark, textured beard. The torso is constructed from vertical and horizontal volumes with visible binding details, gold-colored accents, and cloth-like textures, complemented by a dark, draped material on the right side that resembles a cape. The entire figure sits on a base formed by two large horizontal books.
