This sixth volume of "The Complete Serialized Stories" features the original versions of "The Broken Ear" and "The Adventures of Quick and Flupke". These episodes, conceived in a time of relative innocence, appeared in "Le Petit Vingtième" from 1935 to 1937, as the political climate in Europe was rapidly deteriorating. Although already overloaded with work, Hergé nevertheless agreed to create a new series with a more family-oriented tone. These are the adventures of Jo, Zette, and Jocko, whose publication in the Parisian weekly Coeurs vaillants began in January 1936. They are finally reprinted here, in the colors and square format of their first publication, before the numerous revisions Hergé would make for their reprinting in Le Petit Vingtième, and later in the magazine Tintin.
