Background from the Tintin story:
Although this car appears in only two panels of The Calculus Affair (1956), it is anything but ordinary. Hergé deliberately chose not to use a standard car, but an imposing and luxurious model inspired by American prestige cars such as Chrysler.

In the story, we are in Borduria, a fictional communist dictatorship. Therefore, the car was adapted into a “top-of-the-range Bordurian model” – recognizable by subtle details such as the characteristic moustache styling.

The car drives around Kûrvi-Tasch Square, past the statue of the leader, while an interpreter guides Tintin and Captain Haddock and shows them, among other things, the Government Palace.

Specifications of the original Chrysler Imperial (1953):

  • V8 engine (8 cylinders in V)
  • Engine capacity: 5,425 cc
  • Power: 180 hp
  • Rear-wheel drive
  • Automatic transmission (hydraulic)
  • 4 gears + 1 reverse
  • Hydraulic drum brakes
  • Length: 5.56 m
  • Weight: 2,053 kg

A unique collector’s item for Tintin fans and model car collectors. The combination of story, design and historical vehicle makes this a real eye-catcher in any collection.
