The Persistence of Memory - Salvador Dalí Collection Figurine -  Parastone - 8 cm

This surrealist masterpiece is known for its dreamlike atmosphere and melting clocks. Set in a barren, almost otherworldly landscape, with the golden cliffs of the Catalonian coast in the background, the painting challenges traditional perceptions of time and reality.

The distorted clocks appear to melt, depicted as “the camembert of time” in Dalí’s words, symbolising the fluidity and instability of time in dreams or altered states of consciousness.

At the centre lies a mysterious, amorphous figure. It appears alien yet strangely familiar, and is often interpreted as a self-portrait.

Dalí masterfully combines hyper-realistic details with fantastical elements, creating a haunting yet immersive scene. This iconic work continues to captivate viewers and raises profound questions about the nature of existence, memory, and perception..

Salvador Dali (1904-1989) Dali sublimated his life in his paintings. Based on great craftsmanship, gained through all kinds of artistic experiments, he elevated surrealism to unprecedented heights in his own inimitable, idiosyncratic way. He photographed, as it were, associatively what was going on inside his head. Inspired by new insights in psychology at the time, he tried to capture his subconscious in images and visualize his dreams in all their inscrutable symbolism.
