Description

Hergé, Le Feuilleton Intégral: 1950-1958 (11) - Tintin book - French Edition - Hard Cover - Moulinsart / Casterman - 466 pages

At the beginning, Tintin was a serial. The albums only came later and were never planned at all,” explained Hergé. This collection presents that original serialized version of The Adventures of Tintin, as well as Quick and Flupke and Jo, Zette and Jocko. For the first time, readers can discover the complete comics by Hergé exactly as they were published in Le Petit Vingtième, Coeurs Vaillants, Le Soir, and Tintin magazine, along with all related graphic creations (covers, title banners, illustrations, etc.).

This fascinating return to the source allows readers to rediscover Hergé’s work in the freshness of its original creation. When the stories were later published in album form, Hergé’s pursuit of perfection led him to make significant changes: he redrew certain passages, removed images—sometimes even entire pages—and, from the launch of Tintin magazine onward, systematically altered the colors.

At the end of the volume, three illustrated afterwords enriched with numerous previously unpublished documents provide further insight: Benoît Peeters explores Hergé’s life and work; Jean-Marie Embs examines the sources and historical context of each adventure; and Philippe Mellot presents Hergé’s day-to-day activities and publications. Covering the comics published in the press between April 1925 and April 1976, the 12 volumes of The Complete Serialized Stories are intended for all enthusiasts of Hergé’s work.

Between 1950 and 1958, the world was changing—and the creator of Tintin adapted his working methods by founding the Studios Hergé. From the conquest of space (Destination Moon, Explorers on the Moon), to modern slavery (The Red Sea Sharks), and the Cold War (The Calculus Affair), the adventures of his heroes often anticipated the major issues of their time.
