Wiener Sezession – Koloman Moser Collectible Statue – Parastone - 20 cm

During the fin-de-siècle, the “Wiener Sezession” was founded in 1897 by a group centered around Moser, Hoffmann, and Klimt. It was literally a “sezession” (i.e., a breakaway) from the traditional Wiener Künstlerhaus. The mostly young artists sought to develop their own version of Art Nouveau, as others had done earlier in Munich and Berlin. In 1903, the Wiener Sezession gave rise to the Wiener Werkstätte, a production cooperative for applied arts that aimed to reconcile the fine and applied arts.

Koloman Moser (1868-1918) Austrian painter, graphic artist and arts & crafts designer Moser studied at the Vienna Academy and then at the Arts & Crafts School, where he would later spend 8 years teaching.Moser became known mainly through his designs for furniture, jewellery, glass and metal arts & crafts objects. He also designed a wealth of graphic art with characteristic, geometric patterns. Later in life his focus was on expressionist painting.
