The Cathedral – Auguste Rodin Collectible Statue – Parastone - 17 cm

The Cathedral (1910). Rodin was fascinated by the expressiveness and symbolism of hands and was a great admirer of Gothic architecture. Two majestic hands from a Gothic arch. This inspired the sculptor to call them ‘The Cathedral’. 

Attributes: Auguste Rodin's 1908 bronze sculpture, The Cathedral (La Cathédrale), featuring two right hands reaching upward with fingers gently curving toward each other to create an architectural void reminiscent of a Gothic arch. The vertical, centered close-up shot focuses entirely on the dark, reflective patina of the bronze from its rough-hewn base to the fingertips.

Auguste Rodin (1840-1917-France) Between Romanticism and Impressionism, this idiosyncratic Frenchman created some of the most famous pieces of sculpture.
